2020 Update

Dear Friend of Mercy,

I am excited to announce that Mercy Canada is on the move! We are multiplying Mercy beyond our residential home!

In response to the needs you have expressed regarding serving a wider range of women, and including men, Mercy Canada has been working to intentionally grow our Outreach Services.

2020 will see an expansion of these powerful programs, MPower and Keys to Freedom, created by Mercy to uniquely educate, equip, and empower church leaders, community caregivers, paraprofessionals, and individuals interested in supporting and leading those through life-controlling issues.

Why MPower: We want to share our expertise and experience from 36 years as a ministry to educate, equip, and empower pastors, ministry leaders, teachers, counsellors, parents, and others to more effectively help and support people who are hurting and struggling, while staying healthy and whole in the process.

We know what it’s like to feel the weight of people’s brokenness and the desire to effectively help them. But so few people feel equipped with the tools for helping people in a way that results in true life transformation. At MPower, you will receive practical tools that you will not only be able to put to work in your own life, but also in the lives of all those you love and care for.

Teaching sessions at the MPower Workshop are led by a team of Mercy staff members who have a vast amount of education and experience in counselling and working with hurting people in a wide variety of settings, including professional counselling and church pastoral care.

Mercy’s residential program specifically helps young women, but the MPower Workshop is created to equip anyone who serves in a “helping” role with men or women of any age. We desire to stand shoulder to shoulder with people in this fight for the full freedom Jesus died to give us all.

Keys to Freedom Study: The Keys to Freedom study is our way of taking the keys to freedom – used within the residential homes – and placing them in the hands of every person who wants to live free and stay free. Whatever your age, whatever your life stage, male or female, new or established believers alike; our heart is to see the body of Christ educated, equipped, and empowered to live free and stay free – to be whole, restored, transformed, and ready to impact our world with a message of hope. The study includes an 8 week program with participant and leader guides, along with training and support from Mercy staff.

“This study gave my identity in Christ back to me, to walk every day knowing who I am and whose I am. I haven’t felt free like this, maybe ever. I recommend this study to EVERYONE!” —Jackie

Wellness Centre: We are also thrilled to announce that in January 2020, we will launch the Mercy Canada Wellness Centre, offering holistic care — mind, body, and spirit — on an outpatient basis. Now, women of all ages can come and discover Mercy’s beautifully integrated professional Christian counselling and discipleship program. In keeping with Mercy’s foundational core values, no one will be turned away due to lack of resources. For those out of area or from other provinces, counselling and transitional care services will be offered through video and audio platforms.

Lastly, in December 2015, Fraser Health Authority reviewed our program and deemed our space too small for the services offered. Since then, our 20 bed resource has been limited to not more than 12. As good stewards of our resources, we have been working tirelessly to figure out how to maintain our efficiencies with the limitations imposed by Fraser Health Authority. Though not an easy decision, we have decided to work towards finding a new suitable location, with the intention of building a 20-25 bed facility that will adhere to Fraser Health Authority requirements. In the meantime, all applications will be directed to one of our U.S. locations, where the same life-transforming program will be offered free of charge. We ask that you would pray for us as we seek God’s leading and wisdom in finding the right property for Mercy Canada to call home.

Transitional care and referral services will continue to be offered and we are excited to see how God is building, resurrecting, and expanding Mercy Canada uniquely in this new season! Exciting days are ahead with the ability to see even more lives transformed for Christ. Thank you for your continued support as we expand our Outreach Services, launch the Mercy Canada Wellness Centre, and look to expand the capacity of our residential home through the purchase of a new property.
